The course will discuss how Dementia is not a specific disease. It’s an overall term that describes a wide range of symptoms associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person’s ability to perform everyday activities.

Understand and define the diagnosis of dementia.
Learn about the different types of dementia.
Learn medical and non-medical interventions to aid in the care of individuals diagnosed with dementia.
Learn three causes of reversible dementia and irreversible dementia.
Discuss the risks and benefits of current medications used to treat the behaviors associated with dementia.
Understand the importance of empathic communication.
