This two hour course will discuss end-of-life care for residents with advanced dementia key issues: appropriate management of symptoms including pain, behaviors and the involvement of programs such as hospice. Aggressive medical treatment for residents with advanced dementia is often inappropriate for medical reasons, has a low rate of success, and can have negative outcomes that hasten functional decline and death.
This two-hour course will help attendees understand hospice care and how it is a helpful service for dementia residents.
