Course Description: End-of-life care for residents with advanced dementia involves several key issues: ap-propriate management of symptoms including pain, behav-iors and the involvement of programs such as hospice. Aggressive medical treat-ment for residents with advanced dementia is often inappropriate for medical reasons, has a low rate of success, and can have negative outcomes that hasten functional decline and death. This two-hour course will help attendees under-stand hospice care and how it is a helpful service for dementia residents.
