Subject Code: 06 – Physical Needs

During this 6-hour course, instructor(s) will provide information and suggestions on how to maintain a daily oral hygiene regimen for residents and older adults, including those with dentures. Assistance with daily oral hygiene is often needed for adults who have loss of strength, mobility or dexterity or have experienced conditions such as a stroke, Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s. Nutrition for the Elderly & Professionals Caring for Them, instructor will discuss how nutrition, or the lack thereof affects body and health of their elderly residents. Attendees will learn the importance of providing nutrition to combat unintentional weight loss and malnutrition. Instructor will discuss what’s normal aging and provide ways for administrators to implement anti-aging functions into facility such as exercise. Aging, in and of itself, is a subtle, quiet process unless an individual has a sudden change or feels pain, that is a red flag and not normal aging.

This course gives administrators the essential knowledge for staying on top of maintaining the building grounds of their facility.

Subject Code: 04 – Psych/social needs

This 2-hour course with help administrators and caregivers have a clearer understanding of what a new resident has experienced prior to moving into their new home (RCFE/ARF). Instructor will discuss the different scenarios of common family dynamics and emotions that are happening during the search for a new home, along with common events that have caused the resident to require a more supportive environment.
